Abstract

History repeats itself. And many ancient legends find their reflections in real life. One of these stories that explains the complicated nature of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the ancient Greek myth about the Golden Apple of Discord that led to the Trojan War. According to the legend, “Zeus had a banquet in celebration of the marriage of Peleus and Thetis; left off the guest list was Eris, the goddess of discord, and upon turning up uninvited, she threw a golden apple into the ceremony, with an inscription that reads, ‘to the fairest’”.
