Abstract
One of the aims of this book is to provide a basis for conceptualizing politics in the context of digital technologies. Central to this investigation is the view that different technologies express different social forms and a different politics. In order to begin an investigation into this politics and the forms it might take, I focused on what I saw as three key assemblages of what I call the digital ensemble: examining the operation of power, the constitution of subjectivity, and the forms political action might take. In order to come to terms with the construction of the political and in order to come to terms with politics in the context of digital technologies more generally, I propose that a very different sensibility is required. In short, what is needed is a different understanding or conceptualization of difference in the digital ensemble.
