Abstract

Malcolm Gladwell, author of the wildly popular book The Tipping Point and other big idea bestsellers, recently spoke as the keynoter at the Project Management Institute’s annual conference on the topic of organizational culture and innovation. During that talk he made the observation that there’s a paradox with companies considered wildly innovative: “When you look closely at them, at cultures that seem to have what it takes, they’re followers and borrowers, not leaders and inventors.”
