Abstract
In Turkey, Güldünya Tören has posthumously become a powerful symbol of the fight against honor killings. Her name has been used in song lyrics, a street has been named after her, the Turkish chapter of Amnesty International held a“Letter to Güldünya” competition, and several Turkish pop stars teamed up to release an album of “Güldünya songs” to raise awareness of the silent war against women.
