Abstract
Many victims of crimes committed in the name of honor die anonymous or their death is only deemed worthy of a few lines on the back pages of a local newspaper. But in recent years, several cases have grabbed headlines around the world, largely because of the efforts of local activists seeking to raise awareness of these summary executions. From beyond the grave, the slain women have contributed to a crucial change in public perception.
