Abstract
On 21 July 2011, Turin-based Fiat became the pivotal shareholder in Chrysler, Detroit’s smallest automobile manufacturer, with a 53.5 per cent stake, after paying $125 million to the Canadian government for its 1.5 per cent share and buying an additional 6 per cent from the US Treasury for $500 million.
