Abstract
In this chapter, I will discuss language evolution in two long-running Flemish comics: Suske en Wiske and Jommeke. I will show how comics can provide insight into the development of spoken language. My research is set in the context of the current interest in the recent evolution of Dutch in Flanders compared to the evolution of Dutch in the Netherlands.
