Abstract

Entrepreneurs are driven by the need to make a living or by a vision of exploiting opportunity. Together, they weave a country’s economic fabric; but those who strive for opportunity have the capacity to bring about innovation and change, to shape a flourishing economy. Sometimes entrepreneurs overshoot their target and their business flounders. Something of that ilk occurs when government leaders shape the context in which economies grow or decline, a paradox that is illustrated by Venezuela’s entrepreneurial and political development.
