Abstract

In the chapter on PRODETUR and the construction of infrastructure, we found ecological projects had no effect on tourism employment. However, this does not mean that ecological considerations are completely irrelevant to the economy. Green development can promote economic growth — while unsustainable development can have deleterious long-term economic consequences. (Bunker 1990, Field 2001)
