Abstract
The relationship between the EU and Central Europe is pivotal. Without a doubt, the EU has massive influence over the future stability and prosperity of Central Europe. If it were not for the EU, it is doubtful that the economic development policies of the early transition period would have been successful. The sheer size and wealth of the European Union could allow it to dominate Central Europe in this post-Cold War world. When we talk about Central Europe in the global political economy we are in effect talking about Central Europe in the EU economy.
