Abstract
Lobbyism does not enjoy a good reputation in Germany. Since Theodor Eschenburg’s critical essay ‘Herrschaft der Verbände?’,1 published for the first time in 1955, the already-existing reservations concerning interest groups and their political work have never ceased, but were renewed by younger generations of politicians and social scientists. However, most of this negative judgements are based on merely impressionistic and exemplary insights into the matter, lacking a sound empirical analysis.
