Abstract

Most consultation exercises attract a small response. This is natural. We are all busy people and unless we are passionate about something, why should we waste our time on it? So does that mean that we should not engage in any form of consultation? Of course not. Even if people do not want to engage, they certainly want the opportunity to be consulted. Also, it is very important for politicians to see that there has been an open and transparent consultation process where the community has had its chance to have a say.
