Abstract
This book began with a summary of the main empirical evidence in Romance for the establishment of an unaccusative-unergative dichotomy within the class of intransitive verbs, together with an overview of the various theoretical analyses that have been brought to bear. Both the empirical evidence and the associated theories have now been reviewed, and a number of common themes have emerged.
