Abstract
A series of high profile terrorist attacks in Kuwait in December 1983 and during the spring and summer of 1985 resulted in about two dozen civilian deaths, more than 100 injured, and included an attempt on the life of the Kuwaiti ruler, Amir Jabir. The attacks obviously were intended to undermine the al-Sabah leadership. They transformed the leadership into one obsessed with security and efforts to maintain it.
