Abstract
In many respects waste is only a commodity which we have not yet learned how to exploit. If you travel to some of the developing countries you will see much greater industrial exploitation of waste. More importantly, when you consider the drain on resources for power then converting waste to energy must be a major consideration. On the other hand, running a business or community that is waste-neutral by strategically assessing design, use and buying patterns should also create a reduction in unused resources. The cost of waste does not make good business sense but many would rather look at short-term solutions.
