Abstract
As a magazine published as part of the Excélsior newspaper group, Plural’s fortunes were tied to developments within that group. On 8 July 1976, in a fraught general Assembly meeting of the Excélsior cooperative, the editor Julio Scherer, along with a group of journalists loyal to him, were forced out of the Excélsior offices and out of the running of the newspaper.
