Abstract
President George W. Bush is the first president in over a century to seemingly disregard the balance of religions represented on the Supreme Court. This is puzzling as Bush is one Republican who acknowledges and gives voice to the conservative Christian wing of his party. The only concern of President Bush is that his appointees maintain a jurisprudential posture of judicial restraint. This has been a prime consideration in his nominations not only for the courts but for the Department of Justice as well.
