Abstract

This chapter examines how community groups perceive neighbourhood change and the agents and interventions associated with those changes. Regeneration initiatives, housing agencies and policing responses, in the mixed housing areas, are discussed. The argument is simple: the combination of housing and urban economic regeneration initiatives pursued in recent years has inadvertently resulted in further social exclusion and alienation for some and the betterment of others in the study areas, particularly in Earleschuch. Moreover, intraneighbourhood inequalities in victimization data reflect these emerging social and spatial divisions.
