Abstract
In this chapter we will further elaborate our central argument that the shaping of hESC policies is certainly determined by numerous factors including history, culture and religion, but that discursive memory, narrativizations and decisions to create particular policy dramaturgies clearly play a very important role in shaping regulatory outcomes. After having discussed the two leading centres of hESC research, we will now move to a set of countries that offer striking differences in their approach towards stem cell regulation, Germany, Italy, Japan and South Korea.
