Abstract
FLOATING, or going public, is the natural progression of a growth company which is confident of its future and is akin to an adolescent achieving maturity. For a really good company which has a high quality of earnings, it is usually preferable to selling out, unless a trade offer is made for it at a knock-out price. The flotation process does not preclude a trade sale later, indeed it puts a value on the company which can enhance serious offers.
