Abstract
In this book we have examined theoretical and substantive literature relating to intimate couple relationships, the formerly partnered and repartnering, and have explored the lives and future relationship plans of formerly partnered people in contemporary Britain. In this final chapter we draw on material from the preceding chapters to provide, in a more concise form, an account of some of the key themes and issues that have emerged about and from the lived experiences and perspectives on repartnering of formerly partnered people, and consider the implications of insights arising from these for our understanding of couple relationships and repartnering in contemporary Britain. We start with some essential information about the formerly partnered population in Britain and about formerly partnered people’s repartnering orientations and behaviour.
