Women’s Policy Agencies and Climate Change in the US: the Era of Republican Dominance

  • Chapter
Book cover Changing State Feminism

Abstract

Since the 1960s, the US government, like those in Western Europe, has responded to demands from the women’s movement for policies to achieve sex equality, gender equity, and improvement in the status of women. However, US policy makers have never thought of women’s policy agencies as the first step toward achieving those goals; thus, there has never developed a permanent cross-sectional agency assigned responsibility for women’s issues and status.
