Abstract
China’s real GDP growth has averaged more than 9 per cent a year1 since economic reforms unleashed its growth potential. Real per capita GDP has risen more than six-fold, lifting millions of people out of poverty. This spectacular growth performance has been a result of China’s move from a centrally planned agrarian economy to an increasingly market-oriented industrial system.
