Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to describe the process by which a cultural model is defined. In the language of the TL process this means developing secondary assumptions about the world and ourselves, basing them on the primary assumptions of a logically consistent and coherent worldview. The process will be illustrated by working from the alternative worldview sketched in Chapter 8. Thus, the secondary assumptions to be formulated must embody the following primary assumptions or concepts.
-
1.
The world is made up of units of process, or episodes of experiencing.
-
2.
Each of these brings forth a world and within this world all events are inter-connected, since each of them, directly or indirectly, enters into the constitution of each of the others, and the totality of episodes is governed by Rta.
-
3.
Life is the process of bringing forth a world, or the impetus for and guiding presence of the process, while matter is the content of that world experienced by the subject of that experience.
-
4.
That subject is both the subject in each episode of experiencing and also the subject in all episodes of experiencing, the One. It is the One and the many at the same time.
-
5.
Time and space are subjective to the experiencer of each episode.
-
6.
Knowing the content of a world brought forth in an episode of experiencing is synonymous with bringing it forth.
Furthermore, every secondary assumption formulated must embody all these primary assumptions. Otherwise, it will lack a logically consistent rationale; it will not be viable in practice.
