Abstract
Between 5 and 11 December 1992, delegates from 159 countries and the European Economic Community (including 137 ministers) and representatives from 144 NGOs, 11 intergovernmental organizations and 16 UN bodies attended an International Conference on Nutrition (ICN), jointly organized by FAO and WHO, at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. The two organizations had co-operated in the past in efforts to overcome the scourge of malnutrition. As we saw earlier (in Part I), attempts had been made to marry health and agriculture during the League of Nations that had led to important advances in the new science of nutrition.
