Abstract
This chapter provides a review of the interface between ethnicity, political violence and horizontal inequalities (HIs) in three countries: Peru, Bolivia and Guatemala. The cases chosen to develop insights from Latin America on the. relationship between HIs and conflict are the three countries with the largest indigenous populations in proportionate terms (see Table 11.1). All have a serious degree of HI across ethnic divisions, which we document in Section 11.2.
