Abstract
Real estate activity, in general, is one of the mainstays of modern society. Virtually all human activities are performed in buildings that are the subject of planning and intervention by public authorities, and trade by private companies. At the level of individual households, in addition to the shelter provided by a dwelling, it usually comprises a significant part of personal wealth, and other assets may depend to a great extent on the health of the property markets, either through direct investment or via real estate funds, firms or pension funds.
