Abstract

The most important attribute of a leader, as far as I’m concerned, is the ability to communicate effectively. I’m not talking about flowery language, but communications that bring your message to your audience, whoever it might be. Effective communications are essential, whether via one-onone conversations; in print; in e-mails and other electronic communiqués; in presentations to small and large groups and whatever other possibilities lie in between. But, first, there’s another aspect of communications that might seem counterintuitive: listening.
