Summary
This report describes how I introduced a task-based process with my intermediate level students, wherein teacher explanations of problematic language are replaced by a joint learner-teacher investigation of concordance samples of real language. Thus the topic of the task is an aspect of language itself; exploring the concordance samples generates both spontaneous and planned interaction.
