Diamonds, Jains, and Jews

  • Michael Backman

Abstract

Eight out of every ten diamonds sold in the world today have been handled by Indian Jains. Jain family members have fanned out across the world to corner diamond processing and handling, be it in the traditional diamond capitals of Antwerp, London, New York, Tel Aviv, and now, of course, in India. Their story is remarkable.
