Abstract
The disability rights movement has been highly instrumental in promulgating a socio-political understanding of disability and highlighting barriers to social and economic participation by affected individuals. Its commitment to the elucidation and eradication of barriers to education, employment and civic participation has contributed immeasurably to the well being of women and men with disabilities.
