Setting the Scene: Small State Foreign Policy in the EU and the Case of Denmark
The starting point for this book is the issue of the conduct of foreign policy for small states within the EU. On the one hand it is often stressed by observers, practitioners and analysts that the EU framework in foreign policy has fundamentally changed the nature of foreign policy for small states by giving them access to decision-making on international issues on which they would not otherwise have had any significant say. It is often taken for granted that the EU is crucial for the conduct of small members’ foreign policy.
