The Structure of Charlotte Brontë’s Fiction

Abstract

I have tried in the previous chapters to disengage from the textual density of Charlotte Bronte's fiction a certain informing structure. I want now to examine that structure more generally, and to consider its relevance to some questions of literary form and value in the novels.
