Abstract

Having the world’s largest container port and airport, Singapore is referred to as the logistics hub of South-east Asia. Its well-maintained roads, efficient administrative and economic systems, and national income surpassing that of Europe are some of the reasons why it is known as an ‘Asian Tiger’. However, it is worth noting that the symbol for Singapore is a lion, reflecting the fact that it is a country of overseas Chinese. Overseas Chinese account for 77 per cent of Singapore’s population, and control more than 81 per cent of its capital.
