Abstract
Although networks, as well as social movements, are collective phenomena, it is important not to underestimate the role of individuals in the processes of their construction. Particularly in movements and networks that span over large distances, key activists play an important role through connecting different historical, cultural and political contexts. Through individual moves and movements they are connecting places, organizations and networks, carrying different cultural and historical experiences, that in the process of transnational communication get translated into new contexts.
