Abstract

Coaching is growing more quickly than any other training technique available to companies in the UK (CIPD 2004) as well as the rest of Europe. The picture in the US is the same. But one-to-one learning covers a wide range of styles and methods. Learners have different needs and come from a wide range of backgrounds. The choice of “help” (be it advice, support or “therapy”) and methods used by practitioners also varies; matching the two is not easy.
