Abstract

Professional adult trainers are often a curious bunch of people. Managing them has, not unkindly, been compared to herding cats. They combine a mix of the theatre, a way with words and a confidence which comes from standing in front of a group of people and holding their attention for significant periods. But the best are nervous before their training session and their position in a company or organization is not always held in the highest regard. Too often they are tarred by the George Bernard Shaw quote:

“Those that can — do; those that can’t — teach.”
