Abstract
Nuuchahnulth has a large inventory of phonemes and a complex set of phonological and morphophonological processes, including some quite unique to this language group. In this chapter we will briefly examine those aspects of the phonology that will be most useful for proceeding with an investigation of the morphology of the language. For a more detailed exposition of the phonetics and phonology of Nuuchahnulth, see Stonham (1999b).
