Abstract

The ‘New Right’ as it is commonly represented is a contradiction in terms. Conservatives are by nature cautious, sceptical and adverse to radical change. We need a good reason to overturn an institution or convulse a tradition. ‘New Right’ is often little more than a term of abuse thrown at some of us by our detractors. They want to create an impression of revolutionary Conservatives, people who wish to hurl brutal change at society whilst claiming there is no such thing as society.
