Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to investigate transnational gender equality politics and its meaning to national politics. In order to do this, the chapter will explore the relationship between violence against women and gender equality in two European Union (EU) member states, Finland and England, and in the EU itself. The link between domestic violence and gender equality has been strong in Britain and weak in Finland, and is emerging at the EU level.
