Abstract

This chapter discusses the most important UK legislation relating to consumer credit and the rights of individuals in respect of this legislation. In particular, the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the Data Protection Act 1998 and parts of the Enterprise Act 2002 are examined. It concludes with a brief discussion of the action borrowers can take to deal with their debts when they are unable to manage them.
