Abstract
This book has offered a multidimensional examination of the macro and micro processes of transnationalism operating within and across global and local action sport cultures. It has examined the various forms of power working within transnational action sport cultures, ranging from corporate, media and governmental institutions, to the everyday politics within action sport communities. In so doing, it has revealed how corporeal, virtual and imaginative (im)mobilities are informing contemporary youth’s participation in, and consumption of, sport and physical culture, as well as their understandings of place, space, identity and belonging. However, some might question the broader social significance of such trends, particularly if they continue to be experienced primarily (though not exclusively, see Chapter 8) by privileged youth. Thus, in this concluding chapter I consider the transformative potential of transnational action sport connections, networks and mobilities.
