Abstract
In this chapter, we set out the characteristics of the ten state-owned enterprises which were among the experimental sites selected for the implementation of the ‘all-in reforms’ (most located in the North-East, with a bench-mark case included in Beijing). Data were collected relating to the foundation of the enterprise, its main products, sales revenues, profits and tax, work-force size, and details relating to its personnel, wages and welfare structures and policies. We thus hope to set the company-context of the specific labour and personnel reforms in each case.
