Abstract

In order to understand the labour reforms in China in greater depth, we need to look at their implementation in greater detail. Data collected at first hand will be set out as follows. First, the general background of the reforms in the cities concerned will be set out in Chapter 5. Second, the enterprise contexts will be outlined in Chapter 6. Third, the specific ‘threesystem’ reforms (san xiang zhidu gaige) covering personnel, wages and social insurance, will be characterized in Chapter 7.
