Abstract
The results described in this book support the emerging perception of a growing role for internationalised R&D in MNEs. Whilst overseas R&D remains in the aggregate a relatively small proportion of the total performed by industrial enterprises, it has clearly taken a significant position in the creative and competitive operations of many major MNEs. In particular the results outlined in earlier chapters indicate that such overseas R&D now plays a number of clearly defined and carefully articulated roles in support of the global competitive strategy of leading enterprises.
