Abstract

This chapter examines the development of the key institutions with security roles in the new Europe, NATO, the CSCE, EU and WEU. Its concern is to analyse the interrelationship of these institutions, the so-called European ‘security architecture’. Its central theme is an examination of NATO’s response to the changing European order and the challenge of the new security politics.
