Abstract
In this chapter, we consider the relationship between exports and income. As in the case of investment and government expenditures, the relationship between exports and income can be considered in at least three forms, namely (a) the relationship between the level of exports, say as a proportion of GDP, and the level of income; (b) the relationship between the level of exports and the growth of income, and (c) the relationship between the growth of exports and the growth of income. It is important to distinguish these three relationships, because they differ in their underlying mechanism.
