In one of those ironic turns that became par for the chequered course of our operation in Angola, this devastating news coincided with a breakthrough on the vital question of security for Dr Savimbi and his cohorts. In response to my pleas, Mig Goulding had engaged the legal counsel and the military adviser in New York in some creative thinking.
