Abstract
Before we turn to the qualities required by future financial leaders, we provide in this chapter some thoughts on the parameters of the financial services market place in which they will operate. Any such vision risks falling into the usual boring categories: a simple restatement of today’s environment; a linear projection of this environment; or a fantasy world which ignores human reality. Having spent over three decades in the business with the last half devoted to making such projections, however, we hope that what follows will be a useful blend of experience, imagination and realism.
