Abstract
The key concept in the argument about journalism emerging in the course of the 19th century is that of discourse. This notion, as many oft-used concepts, is elusive. The objective of the following pages is to explain the way I understand this notion and to indicate the contribution this concept can make, in my opinion, to the sociology of the media.1
